About Bucks YFC

There are 8 clubs spread across the county, each offering a wide range of activities for aged 10 to 26 years old. We have done everything from kayaking, tae kwondo, acting, bowling, sports, stockjudging and even hedge-laying.

We now have 3 very strong junior clubs for ages 10–16, which as well as meeting regularly on Wednesdays, enjoy many activities at the weekend, such as the popular junior activity weekend, involving various activities, games and water sports.

The number of members within the senior clubs in the county are also rapidly increasing which helps us greatly in national competitions and sports.

Each summer, all the clubs in the county meet for the Bucks Young Farmers' Rally - otherwise known as the country show. each club takes a turn to organise the event, which consists a range of competitions with lots of light-hearted rivalry between neighbouring clubs to gain the much-prized silver trophy. There is something to suit everyone from craft, cookery, sports and stockjudging as well as the more informal classes such as the carrier bag challenge! Some of our members take the tug of war very seriously and this proves to be a very exciting event to watch each year or take part in. Fun is definitely guaranteed on rally day, and even though it’s a lot of work, it’s certainly rewarding. The ‘ho-down’ at the end of the day is always a high point and inevitably includes flour and water events! The day’s results are announced at the infamous show dance that evening, where everybody involved ends up partying into the early hours!

Talking of parties, if you happen to be a party animal, Bucks Young Farmers is the place to be! Hardly a weekend goes by without a party, dance or disco. If all this appeals to you maybe you should think about finding out about a club near you and what they have to offer! Don’t be fooled (or even put off) by the name, you don’t have to be a farmer or have anything to do with farming to join. It helps to have an interest in the countryside, but even that’s not absolutely necessary. If you want to have fun, learn new skills and meet new people, Bucks YFC is the for you.
